OK - I should have been carrying a spare coil - what else?
I returned from a touring trip through France to Portugal a week ago, this being a holiday I have now taken 8 times over the last 10 years. On my way back whilst in Portugal the car went onto 3 cylinders, not a good thing to happen in Portugal, Alfa Romeos are rare there and so therefore are Alfa garages. I checked on my satnav for the nearest Alfa garage and drove the 40km there. They did agree to look at it and reported that I needed a new coil pack but that they did not have one, a few phone calls and they found one in Lisbon over 100km away. They arranged for express postage and luckily I had it fitted and the car running OK by the following midday.
However I had to forego 2 hotels I had pre-booked and was too late to cancel, plus the cost of repairs cost me about 600 euros and I had 4 spare coil packs at home in my garage!
What else should I be carrying that isn't too bulky or expensive?
