For those who dont know my 916 Spider has been sat at an Alfa Specialist off the road since the end of June, car went in for polybushes and MOT etc but whilst in the garages care the immobiliser gave up the ghost.
First we replaced the aerial and the connections - no luck
Then we replaced the CODE box - no luck
The we ordered a new virgin ECU - this took nearly 6 weeks to arrive!
Plugged new ECU into CODE box and new ECU promptly 'blew it up' in the words of the Alfa man.
This was a new one on him so the car was promtply carted off to the Alfa main delaer service centre in Hull (where all the new parts came from).
They have had it for a week and even they cant get the bloody thing working!
So now im told its going to a 'guru' an old timer retired Alfa auto - electrician who only works on certain cars. He gets to work his magic on the 26th, I wonder if he will fix it.
Really a little bit ****ed about it all as the car has been off the road for the whole summer, its all polybushed and raring to go but we cant get the bugger started
Anyone heard of having such immobiliser problems - especially with brand new parts?
