Mot Issues

Failed on high CO. Can smell over fuelling. Occasional EML and loss of power.Checked everything. Nothing in the codes, changed cat, checked Lamdas, changed MAF flashed ecu etc etc. Few hundred quid down the road and still playing up. Finally begin to notice the temp is up and down just a bit.................fecking intermittent thermostat playing up and or temp sensor. Changed both and sweet as a nut.

So if the temp sensor was working , dodgy thermostat would normally get an error code?

You wouldn't get a fault code from either failure. The ECU and the software it runs is not very sophisticated being pretty old. I have had a crank sensor and coil pack fail with no error codes recorded.
