Re: Does anyone know how to fit a clutch slave cylinder on a 2.0 gtv?
The fella sits on top of the gearbox. You'll be able to recognise it as it'll look like a grubby version of the new one you're about to receive.
Basically it is bolted to the engine, it has a connection with the clutch arm and a hydraulic line connects it to the brake master cylinder fluid reservoir.
Buy a hose clamp and put it on the hose as near to the slave as you can. This prevents air getting into the hydraulic line when you unbolt it.
Unbolt the hydraulic line. Some fluid will escape but not much. Mop it up and don't let it get onto any painted surface.
Disconnect the "ram" end from the clutch arm. This is probably just a bolt with a circlip in it.
Unbolt the slave from the gearbox.
Refit the new one in the same way.
Remove the hose clamp.
Bleed the clutch (there is a small nipple on the slave. You probably had to take the old one out to put into your new slave). Loosen it off, press the clutch in, tighten the nipple, release the clutch. Repeat until all the air is expelled.
