I have just done the cambelt and variator on mine .I purchased a TDC finder i already had a DTI gauge ,but i probably could of got away without it. Yes u definitely need the cam locks ,but i had to drill them out to fit standard bolts . Years ago u would just use the timeing marks ,never even heard of a TDC finder till i got on this forum It still doesnt really help with keeping cyl on TDc as you are getting the belt back on
A hole in the pulley to put a bolt through to screw into the block to lock TDC would of been far better ,but thats to easy
What makes it more difficult on this engine is u have to take the plastic covers off with the timeing mark on .They could of put that mark on the block instead .But once you have found TDC u can make your own
Incidently i work in a Peugeot dealership the mechanics are changing cam belts all the time ,not once have i seen them use a DTI gauge TDC finder
