Remote locking control box, is it standard?

Hello: RE: GTV 2.0TS

The control box that works the remote locking and the alarm has developed a fault. It appears to leak energy and runs the battery down. Battery drain stops when box is removed. I am unsure if this is a result of the faulty box being removed or if by removing it I have caused some other wiring or component to be bypassed. In other words I could replace this rather expensive box and still have the problem.

It is a M99T2 manufactured by META System (in Italy). I need to know if this is an original Alfa box,,, or is it some sort of Thatcham type after market up grade? The wiring behind the central console looks a bit higgledepiggledy but I am not sure how tidy Alfa wiring is in the first place.

Any help or observations greatfully received.
