2ltr 16V with a thirst for flood water!
I recently suffered in the floods when my GTV sucked up some water. It cut out straight away and would not turn over. I towed it home where on inspection I found water in cylinders 1 and 4. I cleared the water out and checked the compression which as I might of suspected was down considerably on cylinder 1 and a little on cylinder 4. It has been suggested that I could have bent a con rod. I am building up to undertake an engine rebuild myself, possibly not wise but necessary due to limited cash, and would like to hear from anyone who has had similar problems or has a great knowledge of the engine. The car is a 1996 GTV 2ltr Twin Spark 16V with the alloy head cover (not the original engine)! I have read the article on the Alfa workshop site about changing the cambelt etc as this was due to be done anyway, should I consider replacing anything else while it's in bits? Does anyone have any decent exploded diagrams?
I look forward to hearing from any of you.
