Previous owner's "performance modification" means I need a new air box
Just had my GTV V6 serviced at Alfaworkshop in Royston, told them I thought the air flow meter needed replacing due to flat spots around 5000 rpm.
Turns out the air flow meter was at fault, but for a particular reason. The bloke before me had put a "performance" air filter in, which uses oil to filter the air flowing into the engine. However, it turns out this oil can contaminate the air flow meter, causing my problem.
On top of this the entire air box has been removed, basically meaning the car sucks air (and presumably anything else) practically directly off the road surface.
In short, I'm posting for two reasons:
Be warned about "modifying" a GTV in this way, it's clearly more trouble than it's worth......
And secondly: Anyone know where I can get a cheap air box?
