All the suggestions above about code problems are valid. But before you go doing things that are serious/costly there is an easy thing thats worth a try.
Just get your hand (fingers if youve got big hands) up behind the stering column/dash and wiggle/work all the wires around. Also pull the fuse board down and wiggle all the wires behind it and above and around it.
This is not very scientific but I can assure you it often works. Has for me on various cars, all with bosch systems? but that may be coincidence. Maybe there is interfearance, loose contacts....don't know, but it has deffinitly worked in the past. Give it several tries.
