My handbrake is great now. I also spray painted the discs with high temperature paint before putting them on (I know some come like this new), I'm hoping this will help the discs last longer as the rust won't spread from the top & bottom. It's amazing how much more of the discs is being used now compared to the old one.

Well this old chestnut rears it's head yet again....
My cables less than 3 years old
Calipers less than 2 same with the hoses
Discs and pads 400 miles
Sliders free, calipers wind back
Failed 12%
Scratches head! Look for mot testers advice, sigh!
Adjustment screw might fix it short term but won't that stretch the cables in the longer term ?
It's a 97, compensator not on this one?
Pint(s) of Stella ordered....
To be continued

Was the cable oiled before fitting?

Takes a while to get oil all the way through, so most garages won't bother, but it makes a big difference.
Oiled the handbrake cable on my little Fiat Cinq prior to fitting and every year the MOT man remarks on how good the handbrake is on that.
(Cinqs are supposed to have terrible handbrakes...)

Other thought, pads only 400 miles old, are they fully bedded in?
