2004 GTV - Injector trouble?
I recently bought a 2004 GTV JTS 2.0
I have driven the car 500 miles, no issue, then the EML flashed when the car was cold. I don't think the temp gauge is working as it should, and the fuel gauge is a liar, but I half expected these things. This is not my first GTV.
The car seems to right itself after a few moments of turbulence, hesitation (almost like it's choking) and flashing EML, before running sweet. I've plugged in the diag tool, and it doesn't find any faults, strangely.
I've only had the car a week and it was serviced with cam belt and water pump done the week before I bought it (as part of the deal). This morning I checked the oil and there's quite a strong smell of fuel from the dipstick. Faulty injectors? failing seals? I am worried that it's going to be a big costly job.
Is it possible that the low reading on the temp gauge (even after 300 miles, it doesn't rise above 60) be linked to a thermostat issue…leading to the car running rich?
Sorry - I expect this issue has been spoken about before.
Any advice, very welcome.
