Hey i'm new to the Forum and want to talk with you about an idea i have for several years :
I want a Alfa Roadster with Arese Engine (3.0 or 3.2) and Rwd
I really like the 916 (nice looks and last real v6 in an alfa convertible)
I have build a 300hp Mx5 Turbo last Year and working as a mechanic for ten Years now ,so i think i have some skills
I have a complete workshop aswell .
Have had some Alfa's in the past (156,gt,145)
I have some Ideas (don't know if they fiseable)
What do you think about a complete 75 v6 or gtv6 drivetrain from the Engine to the Rear Axle?
Will a 75 gtv6 tranny fit the newer v6 Engines ?
Other Things to do:
-Build a Tunnel/making Space for the Tranny/Driveshaft/Exhaust etc. (is there enough space underneath (tank etc.)?)
Biggest Problem will be the huge rear axle with tranny i guess....
-Fabricate a custom front Subframe/Mounts to turn the Engine
Does anyone have Pictures of an underbody from a 916 (couldn't find much) ?
Second Option :
Rwd Conversion with Q4 Parts (from a 164 v6 ?!)
If Parts from a 164 will fit this will make Things easier i guess
Third Option :
Foreign Parts (Bmw,Mercedes etc.)
Much Fabrication work like "first option" and a puzzle of parts which will probably never really work togheter
If i do this conversion ,this will be a Project Car for the next 2 or 3 Years so time and money aren't the biggest Problems......The Goal is to build a "real" Alfa Roadster with the legendary V6
I was thinking about an 918 3.2 first with some serious weight reduction and suspension work but spending 13k -15k (Germany) for the Car alone ,put another 8 or10 k for Parts in it (there isn't anything available for real weight reduction ) and in the End you have an awd convertible still with the wrong Engine in it.....
