Balance belt failure
After countless hours of work and £1200 in bills I was finally happy with how the Spider was running and making plans to do the belts after I finish my exams in May.
No such luck!
Just arriving home from a short trip today the car started making a very unpleasant whirring noise, followed by a tinny rattling sound. I parked up, popped the bonnet and can see what looks like the frayed end of a broken balance belt poking out of the cambelt side cover. I'm guessing the only saving grace is that it's not the cam belt itself.
So now I really don't know what to do. I'm worried that restarting the car could lead to cambelt failure, but I really don't think I have the time to be tackling my first ever belt change right now. Also the car is at the side of the road, not really ideal.
Any advice guys? I'm too p*ssed off for rational thought right now.
