Re: GTV V6 speedo problems
Ok, progress for you. My speedo doesn't work too. Had the help of auto electrician, and have a partial solution.
Undo the multi plug on the ABS unit (pull the lug at the front forward, then it lifts off) You will then need to remove the shroud fom the plug - ask if you cant work it out. The pins are numbered. Pin 22 is your man. It has a blue wire with black stripe theoretically, the colour may have changed with heat/age (helpful!!) push back the cloth loom material if you cant see. Now find about 4 metres of thin wire - I stripped one core of some mains wire. Cut into the insulation of the blue/black wire, just enough to make contact with your thin wire (your test wire). The sparky used Scotch connectors, if you know those. Take out the two allen screws that hold the speedo/tacho in. Remove the unit, then remove the GREEN multiplug. Buongiorno blue/black wire. Same trick with insulation at this end and attach the test wire. Cobble it back together temporarily and test drive. Does it work? If so, two options 1 Make permanent 2 Fix properly - this blue wire goes to the engine ECU as well as the abs. Trace it and find the the bad connection. Ireckon this will sort you out because your ABS works, your engine runs OK so if your speedo unit works, it MUST be a wiring prob. My phone: 07855082302. Mike.
