Measuring to bodywork is not a good way to check ride height - especially at the front where it is dependant upon the bonnet adjustment.
Volume 1 of the workshop manual, section 44 page 20 gives the correct procedure to measure ride height. Unfortunately, the car needs to be lifted ( on its wheels and on level ground ) enough to make the measurements.
measure from the centre of the inner front wishbone bolt to the ground then measure the centre of the outer wishbone bolt to the ground. Subtract the first from the second to get a value to compare in the manual. The values vary by phase 1 and phase 2/3, by model ( Spider, GTV ) and by engine. For 3.0 values, you need to check the manual sections for the engine you have.
As above but the measurements are taken from the centre of the inner springpan bolt and the centre of the hub.
