Re: Which GTV?
This is an interesting question that is very popular here and the other site. Do a search on both to find lots of conflicting views!
I did exactly the same as you and wondered which to buy eventually getting an immaculate ph2 Twin Spark after over a year of searching for the right one. I owned it for over a year and enjoyed 12000 great miles. The car was absolutely faultless, never missed a beat, and needed no work other than servicing, tyres and petrol. But then I didn't want to spend £8k on a car.
During that time I always wondered what the v6 would be like. And that thought eats into you!
So I replaced it with a low mileage Cup. The difference is unbelievable and I suggest that straight away you buy a performance exhaust and replace the air intake pipe silencers. Buy the noisiest exhaust you can get - it sounds absolutely wonderful - don't faff around with all this "will it be noisy" cr@p! Now, I drive round with the windows down accelerating and enjoying the glorious growl of the magnificent motor.
The 2 litre is cheaper to run: servicing, petrol (especially petrol!), tax, and tyres are much cheaper, and the handling is much better too.
You want performance, gorgeous looks, and the ability to overtake safely most things on the road. Ohh, and did I mention the sound?
You've got 8 grand - buy the best v6 you can. And enjoy it!
