Engine Management Light help
First I am new and sorry if this has been covered but I have had a good look on the forum and can't see a specific answer to my questions, so hoping a kind person can help.
I have an Alfa GTV 3.0 V6 registered in 2000.
My engine management light is coming on intermittently (mine looks like the squirting injector, told they vary on the different phases) and the cooling fan is kicking in when I start from cold. I have done an ECU reset using the unplugging the battery and leave for 45 mins process etc... but this hasn't cleared the fault.
Another thread said to purchase an OBD2 scanner so I may read an error code, I have and this didn't work. Other forums now say that my car is too old for this to work and is a Euro2 spec. I don't really want to purchase another scanner.
As the fan kicks in, I guess it could be the thermostat sensor or even the thermostat itself? Also can some one please just confirm where the thermostat actually is in this engine? I checked the wires around what I thought was the thermostat but that didn't help.
Thanks to anyone that can help.
