MAF - want to test a theory on you all
The usual - fluctuating idle - between 500 - 1500.
This is far worse when the engine is cold, but is still present when warm. Saying that, sometimes it sits perfect.
Here's my theory - its the MAF. Why? Because when the engine is cold it needs less air, but the dodgy MAF is providing too much - hence the erratic idle. When warm the air flow is about right'ish versus the fuel therefore less disruption to the idle.
Now bear in mind I am a super novice car mechanic - am I on the money or should I be looking elsewhere?
If i am right, how much does it cost fitted and would you go near the one on ebay for about £70. Something i could fit?
