an interesting observation!
I thought this may be of some interest if people have had a similar problem
Some time ago my spider boot was occasionally popping itself open, and setting off the alarm! More often than not in the middle of night. I started having to lock it on the key so there was no alarm, then just shut the boot in the morning.
So whilst I was having a look around the boot push button in the glove box for a possible fix I noticed the glove box light wasn't working. So I removed the bulb planning on getting a new one.
It's taken me several months to get around to getting a bulb
In the mean time I completely forgot that the boot used to pop itself open, (and now I think about it, it did stop)... until a few days ago when I finally got that new bulb. When it went back in, the bulb still wasn't working. I did think the original bulb looked ok, so a faulty connector part. So I just left the bulb in, and forgot about it.
But all of a sudden my boot started popping itself open again and setting off the alarm.. It happened twice last week, both times in the night.
The other morning I suddenly put two together and removed the bulb, (it wasn't doing anything anyway... and hey presto the boot has stopped opening. I will keep it locked on the key for a few more days to be certain, but seeing as the boot push button and the bulb holder are part of the same thing, it seems this is the fault for both things.. and by having the bulb in completing some circuit it's setting off the boot.
Just thought I'd share this find with others in case your boot is doing the same and you're scratching your heads!
