I am the mystery buyer!
I’m new to this forum but can reveal myself as the mystery buyer of the concours, low mileage GTV sold by Historics at Brooklands last month.
I was at Brooklands on the Saturday that the auction was held to meet some friends and noticed the car. I thought it was rather nice but didn’t attend the auction but noticed afterwards that it had sold. I was very surprised to see the car on eBay a few days later being sold by Historics again so I simply pressed the ‘Buy It Now’ button and bought it. Apparently the buyer at the Brooklands auction was a garage that then failed to come up with the money, hence why Historics were trying to sell it again.
I have to say the car is wonderful and almost perfect in very way. It has only ever been serviced and MOT’d by the same garage and all the paperwork/records came with the car to verify the mileage. The interior is spotless and the car drives beautifully. Whilst I head all the comments on this forum about the 3.0 being a better car I have to disagree. I used to own a very low mileage 3.0 GTV and the 2.0 is actually a better drive. You don’t really notice the drop in power unless trying to beat the factory 0-60 times but you really notice the improved handling of the 2.0 as there is less weight up front.
I am a private buyer and intend to keep the car in its current state. It will be garaged and used on sunny days only!
