I paid 3.2K for my ph2 GTV V6 Lusso on 55K.
I then had a bit of fettling done, new clutch.flywheel, and strut. Then a few months later replaced belt/tensioner and a good service and some other little bits, so off the top of my head another 1.5k.... so overall 4.7k?
That's a lot of cash right.....and perhaps I should have haggled to get it down to 3K?
I have a trim little Alfa Romeo sat aside with a great engine, in a really tidy condition on low mileage, I use a top class reliable Alfa mechanic and I'm confident when he say its 'a really good straight car'....... AND ITS MINE!
I really enjoy the great engine and the comparative rarity and styling of the 916 and its still a headturner....
The thing is for that price I have a really sorted vehicle.....yes you could nip off and buy something else for the total price I've spent on mine (Z4 etc....) but I wonder how much more it would cost me to get it to the condition my 916 is?
The cots of 916's will rise and they are at the nadir price wise..... (I wish I had space to snap up a donor now)
I think a beautifully treated and fettled 916 V6 for 7K with a warranty and confidence is a good deal.... and if I'd had the money up front that's probably the road I'd have gone down.
So for me the initial cost of purchase is only the half the story....
