FWIW, I got my Integrale Evo 2 from Japan. In fact that's why it took me so long to find one; I wanted one only from there - not a UK supplied car.
Salt (lack thereof) was the driver - although the MOT regs are also a major plus. I saw a few UK Evo 2's with an absolute pile of bills/ MOT's etc that looked ok but without being able to look underneath properly there was no way I could ascertain what the rust issues might have been. And Lancia's - as you all "probably" know - do like a bit of the brown stuff. A pile of bills actually means relatively little to me; it's the condition the car is in now I'm more concerned with.
Flip side of Jap sourced cars is zero or patchy history; instead I had the car checked by a Specialist. To me, though, that is the sole downside. Basically I weighed it up like this: give me the choice between a UK car with a shed load of history etc vs a Jap car with zero history, I'd take the latter every time. My car shall out live many.
