Just bought spider and the fun/problems start
Hi there, this is my first post so please bear with me. After many years on hard top Alfa ownership just bought a 2004 2 litre JTS Spider. Got it home yesterday and went to lock it with the Meta round fob and only the alarm switched on, no central locking working, tried it again and only the drivers side locked. Tried with the key and got the drivers door locked but when I tried it in passenger side the push button just popped straight back up, although when I first tried it, it felt as there was resistance and would not go to the locked position at all. After much pressing of alarm fob and trying the key, it all started to work on the fob, alarm set itself and the doors locked. Went to the car this morning and lo and behold, tried to unlock it with the fob and the alarm seemed to de-activate but the car wouldnt unlock, both push buttons just bounced back into the locked position, yes it was very frozen though. Tried with the key and as soon as you turned the key to the open position, push sides push buttons popped up and then popped down again vitually instanly. The only way I could get in was being damn quick opening the door, which must have looked very funny to everyone apart from my wife who instantly said I should have expected this! Drives fine, went for a spin so I could show my dear wife how wonderful the car really is, got it home and it wouldnt lock again using the fob, both push buttons just bounced to the open position again. After once again, much pressing of fob and trying keys, I managed to lock the passenger side with the key and did the same with the drivers side, but I just know that when I go to it tomorrow, even after its defrosted, it won't open. So, is it all just out of sync, is it an alarm fault or a central locking fault. The car does have a three month parts and labour just want to see if there is a quick fix that I can deal with as the dealer is over an hours drive from where we live. Cheers Jim.
