Crazed Thinking of getting a GTV - first post

Hi all. This is my first post, so go easy on me!

In a nutshell I'm sick of my A3 and I want a new car.
My mate at work has a 147 and he said, "why not get an Alfa?"
So I thought why not..

I never realised that you could pick up a GTV for such a relatively small sum of money these days!!

So I was looking at spending no more than 7k and aiming for a 2002+ one with the lowest amount of mileage possible.

I'm still very much in two minds about whether to get one or not yet as the Alfa's have always gotten really bad press - undeservedly I'm sure. I just don't want to land myself with a car that's going to spend more time in the garage than on my drive! (I've read the buyers guide and it put my mind at rest a bit but I'm still a bit worried)

Basically just want to take a good look around one as I've never seen one up close, but always really liked the look of them since the first time I clapped eyes on one back in the 90's.

I don't suppose that there is anybody who lives near me (PR76JY) with a GTV that wouldn't mind letting me take a look around it is there?

Re: Thinking of getting a GTV - first post

Hi and welcome. If you are looking to spend around 7K you should get a good one.Main thing's to look out for as i am sure you have read is bushes and timing belts etc.Get one fron main dealer if poss and you will get a years mechanical cover. If the belt's and tentioners haven't been done insist that they are done before you make the deal.As for ownership, i have had mine now for two years (2002) and have had no real problems at all.
