Got my spider back yesterday after a nightmare couple of days where it all went wrong.
I took it to a local indie ***** specialist for a variator change and it ended up nearly needing a new head at the best.
They changed the variator no problems, even let me stay and watch as i was interested to see what was involved.
While it was there i asked them to check the plugs ect, this is where the fun began.
While removing the plugs 2 of the smal ones snapped of in the head and unusally leaving the plug centres intact.
No joy in trying to extract them so the head had to come off. With this done the plugs were that tight that they snapped 2 extractors trying to remove them.
Fortunatley we were able to drill and tap them out without damaging the head and refitted it.
Put everything back together and started it up. it ran sweet for a minute then panic as it made a horrible grinding noise. Again fortunatly being stood next the ignition switched of straight away and found the tensioner supplied was wrong and the belt had jumped.
Longshot no damage to valves or pistons, very very lucky.
Job done and its running sweet now. Cost for 2 days solid work by garage and all parts ect £700 in my opinion not to bad.
Would certainly recommend this indie to anyone and will certainly be using them again. They even bought me a bacon butty when they stopped for luch
