gtv sometimes starts and sometimes doesnt - Please HELP
Hello guys, this is my first post on here, so I feel a bit bad asking for help straight away.
Anyway I have had my 2.0 16v gtv for a few days, Picked it up from Nottingham last week and was soooo pleased driving it home. It’s a 96 model with 50,000 miles on the clock. Its been pampered all its life, FSH, garaged, £1000s spent on it etc. and drove like a new car on the way home.
Anyway since getting it home, its only started probably 40 % of the times that I’ve tried. When it doesn’t start it turns over perfectly but just doesn’t fire up. There are no horrid noises or anything sounding suspicious, It just wont start.
Also there is no pattern to when it will/ wont start, for example, I got back from work last night and tried it 10 times and it wouldn’t start. So I called out AA and when they arrived about an hour later the bloody thing was fine and started every time.
Then this morning I went to start it up and nothing again! Its been like this ever since last Wednesday, and I really don’t know what to do?
Is there anything a “non mechanic” but practical bloke like myself can do to try and work out the problem, or should I take it to a garage?
Which brings me to my second question, can you recommend and garages in the Oxfordshire area for Alfa’s that are trustworthy and wont rip me off?
There is a local place called “Solo Italia” in a place called Bedbroke (Oxfordshire) that specialise in fiat coupe’s and Alfa’s but I’ve heard from a few people that they are dodgy and are likely to invent other thing wrong with the car to get as much money as they can out of you.
Can anyone back this up or tell me otherwise? Or better still recommend somewhere good either in Oxfordshire (where my parents live) or in Surrey near Gatwick (where I have just moved to) ?
Would really appreciate any help. Thanks. Ben
