Re: GTV clutch pedal issue
I've had my GTV for around 6 years from new and last time it was in for a service I was told there was an oil leak near the bottom right of the engine (not a mechanic so you'll have to excuse me). However I monitored the oil level for a few months and it barely shifted, no more than it had done in previous years. A few weeks ago however the clutch pedal started to do the same thing that Hamps says at the start of this thread, and so I topped up the brake/clutch fluid as needed. Having read through the thread I'm just wondering if this 'oil leak' could infact be clutch fluid and not oil? Another symptom is that starting from cold is sounds like the starter motor is catching, yet starting from warm this sound isn't present (kind of sounds like a crrrrrrrrrrrk noise). Could this be caused by leaking clutch fluid entering the starter motor? (like I said not a mechanic so feel free to have a giggle if I'm talking tosh) Or is the starter motor definitely on it's last legs? All advice greatly appreciated as the garage have told me I need a new starter motor, full clutch and it's time to get the timing belts done too (just over 60k miles atm). The piggy bank is looking very worried over in the corner of the room (as am I).
