I know there have been a number of posts on here regarding the characteristics of the infamous Spider roof mechanics but am in need of some assistance.
My roof for a couple of years was totally reliable for 90+ percent of the times I asked it to cooperate.
However, at the last service I asked my indy Alfa mechanic to check everything over lubricate, check microswitch alignment etc and since then I have a 5% successful operation.
So rather than playing silly games and getting nowhere except peeing off my incredibly flexible, helpful and good mechanic I thought I would ask the collective if anyone knew of someone who knows the intricacies of the Spider roof intimately and I would invest the time and money to gain a reliable operation.
My issues seem to be in the initial operation of wanting to remove the roof, i.e. either the rear window doesn't fold up to allow the deck to lift, or it does fold up and deck doesn't lift.
Before anyone tells me to tap with a toffee mallet, yes I have done that (but do not consider this to be a cure), I have also installed the uprated gear, I have also had the motor bushes replaced. I cannot help but feel there is a signal that is not getting through one of the microswitches to allow the motor to operate but I have no idea which switch is responsible for this stage and where it is located.
Any recommendations gratefully appreciated.
