I would say they are "cheap" but most cars are now 15 years old and need on going repairs.
I was tempted by a 1000 pound GTV TS in 2012 and over the next 2 years its had the below maintenance/repairs done which has cost me best part of 5000.
So unless you are very good at DIY mechanics and can do a lot yourself, these cars with the inevitable rear suspension wear can be an expensive hobby.
I am however hopeful my ""investment"" now will pay off over the next few years as I can have a lot of fun in a GTV that drives as good as new (well almost). I guess its still only worth 1000 but at least it isn't depreciating, unlike my other cars, which in comparison actually make 5000 in two years seem like good value.
Polybushes, Suspension Arms, Rear shocks, Brake discs, Exhaust, Radiator, Cambelt, Variator, Clutch,
Gearbox bearings, Tyres, Wipers, Bolster repair, Replacement indicator stalks, front fog light, 8 spark plugs,
Heated rear window mod, door seals, boot badge, MAF, air filter housing, inlet hose, four wheel alignment, drop links, underseal and other servicing items like fluid changes etc = 5000
