Right, after my last post help-overheating-2ltr-gtv
i changed the thermostat, tested the old one and it was stuck....
nice easy job (didnt get chance to take a water sample for a sniff test). filled her back up with just water (for now) and everything seemed tickety boo. water warning light went off, water temp reading working properly, all the rad pipes and rad seemed warm. Took her for a test drive....
the cow broke down again! driving along nice and steady, you can feel the power start to fade, shortly after, engine dies and i knock it off and coast into neutral. i was just about to ring my mate for a tow, when i realised the f'ing end of my towing eye is bent
the car wont start again for some time (maybe when its cooled) but i had no choice to drive it home, where it cut out again, just around the corner
Anyway, does the GTV have some sort of electronic cut off if temp gets too high? when it did break down, the top tube again felt very hot
If all the pipes and rad is warm, then the water pump must be working?
Also, not the most scientific of test, but i could blow water through the rad tubes quite easily, so i dont think the rad is blocked?
Any suggestions, i was thinking my next step would be to change to water pump, and probably do a belt service whilst i was there.
thank you lovely people, for you help so far.
