I am disappointed too Clive, as like Andy I had no idea this was going on! It seems that Alfaowner relies on the members themselves to actually arrange meets and promote events, nothing is forthcoming from the "club".
I sometimes wonder what our subscription to this "club" pays for? I would have thought that Alfaowner might have made an effort to promote this event, as reading from the link you posted "if you arrive in your own Italian road car (any model and year), you can be part of the event by joining the Italian car display"; and "Car clubs wishing to take part in the static displays are invited to book free space". Am I getting this wrong, is Alfaowner NOT a car club? Should this event not have been promoted through the "club" ;and an Alfaowner section of the Italian Car Display arranged?
I have paid my membership for the last two years but I am beginning to wonder why I bother, the only thing that I seem to get from Alfaowner is the forum, and I can use that for free.
I have just paid £47 to join AROC because I recently had a conversation with two of their members, who stopped at the end of my drive while I was working on the GTV (one in his eighties who has owned Alfas for the past 40 years). They both waxed lyrical about all the events they had recently been on that were organised by the AROC. They have also posted the last two editions of the monthly club magazine through my letter box, which are entertaining, informative and professionally produced.
