Metallic squealing from a 3.0
Near disaster last night. On my way up the M6 I noticed the temperature creeping up slowly, it got up to 80 and then stayed there. This was odd because it always runs at the semp temp about 70. Thinking nothing too much of it I continued onto the m62, temp the same.
When I pulled onto the M57, I thought the car was lacking some torque but had to carry on until I left to pull onto the A580. As soon as I slowed down, the car felt sluggish and developed a very loud metallic squealing, which increased with revs. It cut out at the traffic lights, but promtly started again and ticked over.
I got the car squealing to my GF's house and looked under the bonnet, belts are both fine, coolant was fine and no obvious signs so I locked it up and went in.
This morning after much thought, I camr e to the conclusion that one of the jockey pulleys had collapsed and was making the cambelt squeal so I called the AA and the had the car towed 80 miles home.
It started fine this morning albeit sounding terrible, and now I think maybe the water pump has failed.
Any thoughts? The car is now stuck at home so I might have to DIY the cambelt and waterpump.
