Wednesday the Gtv got to have some fun a Brands hatch, it was an open pit day with the Indy circuit and had Peugeot offering laps withinstruction in a RCZ.
It was the second outing with the Toyo Proxies and 4th track day with the Performance friction pads.
Was hitting about 110mph on the straight then exiting the first corner after that around 80mph. Druids was a challenge with a far bit of squeal and the following corner was 60 max, then 80 at the next. Last corner opening to the straight provided some controller over-steer if I lifted off
The Peugeot RCZ was eye opening, brake pads and callipers were upgraded to AP racing according to the instructor. The bite was strong and gave a lot of confidence, much better than mine although maybe I need to replace my brakes lines (more of that later). The RCZ was a 1.6 turbo with 200 bhp I think, it felt balanced although I did get caught out by the turbo lag, coming out a corner in 3rd, it was seem like a pause of a second before the boost hit and flew out the corner, compared to the V6 which responds instantly on exit. Lap time I feel would be faster in the RCZ with me at the wheel. ESP needed to be off otherwise it was switch off power hitting the apex.
Car behaved well but noticed brakes were exremely poor at the end, just before 5pm, checking the brake fluid, it was all gone!! So a leak somewhere as even after topping up it's now empty again after parked for a few days.
