P0335 Crank Pos. Sensor - Won't Warm Start

Oh well, it was meant to be...
First real drive of my Alfa GTV 2.0 T.Spark and on my return journey it broke down on me when coming off the motorway.
Engine just died and would not start / no spark.

AA turned up and hour later and dropped me back home with the car and came out this morning and plugged in the computer but, strangely before plugging in, the engine started but with the engine check light on (EML).

AA read the code - P0335 and strongly expected the Crank Position Sensor.

It's not bad news really, the fix looks straight forward and there will be blood, sweat and tears removing the one bolt holding in the sensor I'm sure. But at least the repair will be <20.

Pretty good write up on how to replace in this link:
How to replace the crankshaft sensor on an Alfa romeo TS or JTS engine

Before I make a start, is this a common failure on T-Spark engines?
Is there a recommended long-term fix (specific manufacturer for replacement part) etc ?

thanks everyone.

Yes its common. Happened to me too although I didn't have a warning light or errors stored on ECU. No fix known seems the heat eventually kills the sensor. I found it best to change from underneath car but you need small hands and a zen like attitude.

Is it also a common failure on V6s?
