Hi all, hope someone can help me with an issue with my TS.
Had a recon engine put in recently together with a new aluminium radiator. Car has been running fine but day before yesterday noticed steam coming out from under the bonnet.
Now at this point I have to point out that prior to that I had just driven about 15 miles on the motorway to a retail park. I had kept an eye on the temp gauge as I do anyway, and didn't notice anything out of the normal. So after a short stop I jumped back in the TS and literally drove around the corner to Halfords. As i pulled up I noticed the steam!
When I looked at the front of the car, the coolant was dripping out quite quickly. I bought some radweld and poured that into the expansion tank and topped it up with some de-ionised water before gingerly driving back home. Once home I noticed that the leaked had reduced considerably.
SO yesterday I fired up the old girl and the radiator was still dripping, not as bad as the first time. Also the radiator inlet and outlet pipes are easy to squeeze. So does this mean that I have an air pocket in the system?
I am planning on putting one more shot of Radweld into the expansion tank again and run the car with the lid off the expansion tank to get the air out. Is that the right approach? Any other suggestions (polite ones!)?
BTW the temperature gauge shows the temp going up to 90, then as it creeps over, the fans comes on and the temp drops down.
