This year has been expensive for me, its at 147k
So far I've replaced the plugs, the rocker cover gaskets, all the belts, tensioners and water pump, 2nd hand gearbox, clutch, clutch master cylinder, polybushed the rear, new disks, pads, reconditioned the driveshaft and new cv boots, upgraded the front arb, reconditioned the rear brake calliper, braided brake lines, new plates, all the fluids changed.
Swapped a 300 pound 520i drift car in return for the labour
Out of all that, all I needed to do was a new gearbox and clutch, the rest was done so that i wouldn't have to worry about them for the next few years. So my average maintenance is a bit skewed.....
Prior to my ownership, the previous owner had a new exhaust fitted, slave cylinder, alternator, front suspension overhaul, new wheel bearings, new belts (twice), new radiator and new tyres's fitted. He had it from 95k miles to 143k miles
If it was me, Id go for a gtv with high miles, thats been belted recently, has had the clutch replaced and anything else listed in the above done in the previous 30k miles/3 years, as it'll mean you won't have too, over one with 80k that could have a lot of stuff needing replacing.
