Mild steel centre with stainless rear?
Just getting some opinions on the idea of combining a new custom built mild steel centre section with a chambered muffler with a straight pipe stainless rear section.
Basically due to the cost of a full stainless system and the potential issue of defect-able noise levels, I am considering getting the above done. I want to go the chambered route to try and cut out some of the lower end bass to avoid drone at cruising speeds and also to get a nice raspy exhaust note at the higher rev range.
Has anyone got a setup similar to this? Im prettysure someone on AO has an OE centre with a Ragga rear? If so, how does the mild/SS combo pair up? Would I be better off just going full SS or full mild?
Once again, the main factor here is price. I'm a student so paying ~$1200 (~650-670 quid) for a full SS system is pretty much out of the question. whereas a full mild is about $400-$500 so I would wager that a mild/SS system without a muffler on the SS rear section should only be about $700-$800 which is about as high as I would like to go.
As a side note, I have looked at ordering a Cybox online but international shipping on an exhaust always worries me as it costs a small fortune (well over $100 for shipping alone) and there is always to risk of some monkey denting the kit while its on its way. So I plan to go to a local exhaust shop of which there are a few really good ones around me.
