This forum is ace, and I've just managed to spend about 2 hours reading everything I can about looking after the 2001 2.0 Spider Lusso, which I'm picking up on Wednesday! The folks on here were also really helpful when it came to picking my motor! Thanks to all
Anyway, the Spider I'm getting has just passed it's MOT, but the previous owner didn't service it after owning it for a year. So, I'm gonna book it in for it's 60K service as soon as I pick it up (it's got 54 on the clock). Does this sound like a good idea? Apparently I can also take it back to the dealer inside of warranty if the service reveals any bad problems?
I'm in Leeds, and the guys at Turin have been very helpful in advising me (they've spent at least 30 mins on the phone with me giving buying advice *before* I even bought the car from another dealer!), so I'm gonna drop it in there I think. They've quoted £350 (£411 inc VAT) for a 60K service, but another £100+VAT for variator change taking it up to £528.75. Does this sound reasonable?
I'm waiting to hear back from C.W.Lear who is also highly recommended.
It seems that Alfa are upsetting their main dealers in Leeds is, Dixons in Horsforth is 5 mins away, shame it just closed down it's Alfa operation!
After the service I'm hoping to get it mini-valeted, buy some lube for the locks (in case we get more frost), some Selenia 20K oil, and some Autogly Fastglass for the rear window (all that depending on spare cash!). I'm also trying to make some space in my tiny garage so I can keep it in there (there's lots of chavs around here and I don't trust it on the drive too much!).
Anything else I should be thinking about, I'm keen to keep this Alfa in good nic!?
