I started my alfa gtv 2.0 t-spark the other day and suddenly the revs went up to 3000 and over. help would be appreciated. the throttle potentiometer has been changed and did not make any difference.

Re: GTV running very fast

Sticking throttle? Could be, try cleaning the throttle body with carb cleaner. Be delicate with the butterfly though (you don't want to damage the idle actuator).

or it could indeed be the idle actuator. Another thing to check for is air leaks on the inlet pipe after the MAF, the twinny's are prone to the induction pipe splitting just before the throttle body (where the pipe is flexible) if it's split, just tape it up with some good duck tape and order a new one from a parts supplier, my tip would be to go for the one that looks like a straight pipe rather than having the funny looking resonator box on it.

Good luck and keep us posted.
