May need the throttle body cleaning out as they can get quite filthy (especially if the intake was split), try taking off the rubber pipe and spraying the butterfly valve with carb cleaner. I wouldn't recommend cleaning the MAF unless you're sure it's knackered, cleaning them can ruin them so it's a last resort (MAF's cost about £100 or so to replace).
It may also need the idle actuator resetting, if the pipe has been split a while it may be that the ECU just needs a bit of time to readjust the mixture settings. After you clean the throttle body, just try driving it for a while and the idling may settle down over a few miles.
