A P1 is the 3 pin with croc clip VAG cable into which you then plug the OBD cable . It is still OBD it's just you need the VAG for plugging OBD into.
The actual ports on the car are passenger side central tunnel cover - remove and behind this there should be a port most likely with plastic cover. There is another diagnostic port up beside ABS unit. On a p2 they introduced the 16pin OBD socket and its port is up beside fusebox . Better setup to the p1 in my opinion.
Not sure if your code reader will do Alfa? most don't , multiecuscan is recommended in Alfa community and Examiner is Alfa Specialist/Dealer diagnostic software.
