A P1 is the 3 pin with croc clip VAG cable into which you then plug the OBD cable . It is still OBD it's just you need the VAG for plugging OBD into.

The actual ports on the car are passenger side central tunnel cover - remove and behind this there should be a port most likely with plastic cover. There is another diagnostic port up beside ABS unit. On a p2 they introduced the 16pin OBD socket and its port is up beside fusebox . Better setup to the p1 in my opinion.

Not sure if your code reader will do Alfa? most don't , multiecuscan is recommended in Alfa community and Examiner is Alfa Specialist/Dealer diagnostic software.

Thanks everyone, found the culprit, it was the sensor at the back of the throttle just hadnt connected properly.
Cant get my injectors done though, due to unforeseen personal circumstances im now gonna have to sell her :-(
