I have the expected problem with a strutbrace on my spider, I ordered one from strutbracer.co.uk on the assurance of the guy via email that it would fit ok, the bonnet would close and I shouldn't have to modify the brake fluid reservoir.
Well, he obviously didn't do his research as I had to cut a slight piece from the top of the brake fluid reservoir (only a plastic fin, nothing serious) to get it to fit, and then when it came to closing the bonnet the predictable happened, the bonnet wouldn't shut.
There wasn't much in it though so I thought I'll just give it a slight push, and hey presto it shut. Roll on problem 3, I thought it would be a good idea to have a look at where it was snagging and make sure it wasn't causing any problems, or if it could be modified a bit to allow it to fit better. I popped the bonnet and found that it now will not open
. It would seem the extra tension caused by the brace pushing on the bonnet is stopping the drivers side from releasing when pulling the bonnet release (it would be the side with the release tab to fully open it as well wouldn't it
So now I'm going to have to find a way to get the bonnet open without breaking anything, not a happy camper I can tell you.
