Hi guys, appreciate the input. Here's the update and unfortunately its not good news.
Out of neccessity rather than choice i went ahead with Mr. Clutch to do the repair. (it was too much of a PITA to get the car to Monza Sport or anywhere else when it was undriveable). Its taken them 10 days in total to diagnose the issue, order replacement parts from Alfa and fit them.
As above, they diagnosed it as a collapsed pipe between slave and master cylinder, and to be fair the technician showed me the old one and it did look in a bad way and would explain the loss of pedal.
So, £400 lighter i picked the car up last night with an omninous warning that "they noticed the clutch was slipping slightly." I didn't know what to make of this but on the drive to work this morning it proved to be a massive understatement, with huge clutch slip in any gear at any speed (even at 60mph in 6th) with the slightest application of throttle. At least the pedal has plenty of pressure!
Rang back this morning and i got a flat "its a coincidence you've worn out the clutch prior to the loss of pedal."
There was no clutch slip prior that i noticed to the hydraulic issue, or in fact when the pedal had gone completely and i had to nurse it home 20miles with the clutch permanently engaged there was no slip.
I'm feeling strongly that they haven't properly adjusted the clutch or have otherwise ballsed it up. Opinions?
