Hi guys, as you might know from my previous post, while I was driving the GTV back from work, the car just suddenly stalled but I manage to start it and crawled it back to a parking bay then I left it for a few days and it just wouldn't start at all.
Previously, it has been driving fine but with that injection warning light on for about a month. I know I should have went to the garage but driving to CM garage which is 20 miles away every 2 or 3 months is very tiresome lol.
Anyway, I did the battery reset, even disconnected the battery for like 1 week then went to restart the engine etc to no avail, although the injection light did go off.
Car is now due for a service so I decided to phone up RAC to see if they can tow my vehical to the garage. Anyway, the guy for some reason manage to start the engine etc and it was idealing fine although it was a bit erratic - injection light came back on. So he popped the bonnet up and the first thing he checked was the intake hose which was disconnected very slightly - I didn't know that I should have checked that... noob of me I know!
Anyway, the guy tightened the hose again and he said it will be OK. Injection light still on but I have disconnected the battery to reset it to see if it will go off. Basically, in September, CM garage told me that my hose was pretty busted (was repaired before), but as they source find a suitable replacement as they do not manufacture them anymore, chick needed to make a makeshift hose which actually looks pretty good!
My main concern is why did the hose just disconnected? Would it have produced the symptoms that was mentioned? I want to drive the car to get it serviced but I thought it might be unfit for purpose if it did stall half way through driving maybe a roundabout or something... that would be dangerous. I am looking to maybe buy this one :
Is that suitable for the car? Do you guys think after plugging the hose back in, I should expect the injection light and ideal to be fine (assuming everything else is in working order). Would having the injection hose not being connected properly for say over 1 month damage other components for example the MAF etc.?
On a final note, any ideas how much it would cost to have the front brake callipers refurbished + powder coated and fitted into the car ?
