I think buying one through here will be a good idea, either privately or through Clive. Certainly try to avoid cars without good history.
Mileage - although it always feels good to get a low miler, it is less important than decent history/maintenance.
Q2 if you can find one that's had it done is nice.
I don't think you'll regret it - I rarely drive mine and in fact seem to spend more time fiddling with it or polishing it but when I do drive it, I must be grinning like an idiot, as I tell myself I'm living the (childhood) dream. Sure there are flasher, faster, newer cars about but a Gtv v6 is something I've always lusted after and it really doesn't disappoint. Even when just pootling around it makes me smile.
