I'm very excited to be here, I'm a fresh Alfa owner, bought a gorgeous dark Blue 2.0TS GTV Lusso (CF2) with a nice cream interior yesterday! Very very happy with that decision, been looking for one for more than a year!
The car DOES have issues tho, and one of them, probably the most important one is that the cooling fan wouldn't start even with the engine temperature gauge showing 100°C or even 105°C. Anytime i am moving along at any speed, even less than 30kph -> the radiator gets air and it's fine (80-92°C depending on speed, revs, and so on). I realised while parking the car and having multiple heart attacks on some traffic heavy roads on the way home that this NEEDS to be fixed ASAP. And it would definitely be a big hot problem in the summer.
(I should say at this point, that the air conditioning was removed from the car by some guy in the past. The whole engine was changed for a new or refurbished one, and some... well.. there is a Webasto aftermarket (heating?) system in the car, which to me seems simply stupid. And as a bonus, the install of the system does not really seem to be a "clean one", the wires in the passenger footwell are a mess... Also - haven't tried turning it on and I would definitely like to get rid of it once i sort out all the paperwork I have to go through here.)
I tried looking for the OBD II switch in the passenger footwell and next to the fusebox on the left side of the vehicle (steering wheel is on the left side), and I simply can't find it, where is it supposed to be...? I just want to check the socket is actually an OBD before buying a cable. Am I looking in the right places?
Anyway, to the point... About 20 minutes ago, I have found out using the workshop manuals that the 50A fan fuse in the fuse box in the engine bay is missing. (picture) And to be honest, i am rather afraid of replacing it. The wires are an unbelieveable mess (but maybe that is just the Alfa way
) , especially under the plastic cover on top of the front right fender, i can't tell what any of these are...
I know this question is extremely specific, but has any one of you ever taken out the aircon and felt that the fan fuse should be taken out? Why would anyone do that? What would motivate the guy he did it? Is it dangerous to replace? I don't want to wake up in the night with my gorgeous car on fire.
