I know discussions of value have been done to death but I've just spent some time looking at 147 GTA's, as I have quite a fancy for one. Prices for an unmolested original (save for q2) car are really quite strong.

Then I look back at what I already have in a Gtv v6 - absolutely unbeatable in my opinion, pound/pleasure. In fact even if Gtv prices doubled from where they are, I would still say they represent a superb bargain.

I can't think of or find any other car that satisfies on so many levels, of course all subjective but as I see it;

Timeless Pininfarina styling

Wonderful engine, even in standard guise (ie standard exhaust)

Cabin that still feels very special

Timeless Pinifarina styling again

Affordable, not too horrific maintenance costs as long as you are on top of it all.

Relative and increasing individuality.

Challenge - can anyone else name a car that comes close to the above at a similar price point?

Fully agree. Bang for buck nothing else comes close.

1999 GTV V6

I've owned a few Alfa's as everyday cars.
I had a GTV V6 when it was a couple of years old and a 156 GTA when it was an ex demo.
When I decided to get another Alfa to enjoy on high days my only thought was another GTV V6. The GTA's are great but personally the GTV feels more special to me.

I was looking at a 156 or a GTV as a works car once.... My mate Bullet decided it for us. He said "a saloon might be nice.. but when birds see a GTV, they see low and pointy".

I reckon the spider is the only car I have ever owned that I know I could sell for more than I paid. It hasn't cost much in maintenance or running expenses.

It's bordering on being an investment.
