where is the MAP ?

A newbie to 916 TS here,

where is the MAP, seen a few comments mentioning this item,

how do you check it, service it or give it some TLC etc.

have heard it should be cleaned on occasion ?

Maybe you mean the maf. Air flow meter ! Its sits on top of the airbox. No need to clean/contaminate it.

A dirty MAF is fairly common and can be cleaned, but don't do it unless you have a sound reason to suspect it, as it is possible you may damage it during removal/cleaning. I cleaned mine several times on my old 156 TS, for some reason the TS is reported as having more problems with the MAF than the JTS.

If you have a misfire, flat spot etc that makes you think the MAF may be the problem, there is a quick test involving disconnecting the MAF that will indicate if the MAF is at fault, do a search to determine the procedure.
