Auxillary Belt Squeaking

My 1997 alfa gtv 2.0 litre twin spark was acquired with a squeaky auxillary belt
Recommendation for good parts supplier and is this a straight forward diy job or better going to a garage

It's probably the tensioner. I got mone of ebay for 30

Straight forward diy job although you may need some help when you go to take the belt off and put it on.

Workshop manual can be downloaded here

Best of luck

Or give Alfashop a call for all parts needed. They deliver the next day.

Just had my auxilary belt changed today at Alfashop as mine had started squeaking. When they checked it they said it had uneven wear, but was only changed about 6/7k ago when they done the cambelt change.

GTV twinspark

My top tip for untensioning the belt is to get a 15mm swan neck spanner, tie a bit of rope through the hole in the non-15mm end, get the spanner in position on the nut that moves the tensioner and then feed the rope up passed the belt. Heave the spanner up and then tie the rope onto the tie rod to hold the tensioner while you remove or fit the belt!
