There is very little in this world that is truly "unfixable", sounds like a load of carp to me. Get it hooked up to examiner and see what she say's.
If it's struggling for power it could be a number of things, suspect air flow meter (MAF) or lambda probe first off. But impossible to tell without more description.
Try unplugging the MAF and see if it's still the same (faulty MAF) but when you take it to a specialist make sure you tell them as it will record a fault in the ECU and could lead them on a merry dance.
